This is not a helicopter kit but a detail accessory — it replaces the wheels from the plastic box with more accurate castings carrying a sharper rendering of the tire tread, hubs and brakes. The tire and the hub are usually arranged so that they can be masked and painted separately. The set is meant for more advanced modelers who want a more faithful landing gear.
The Mi-8, NATO reporting name Hip, is one of the most widely used transport helicopters in the world; the related Mi-17 is an updated version with more powerful engines. It carries troops and cargo and is flown on rescue and support duties by many armed forces and civilian operators. Its sturdy landing gear copes with operations from unpaved surfaces.
Wash the parts to remove the mold release agent left from the mold, cut off the casting blocks and clean them up. Resin is bonded with super glue (cyanoacrylate). Paint the tires dark gray rather than deep black and add dust to suit the setting; choose the hubs according to the particular aircraft. Protect your airways when sanding resin.
