This set from Quinta Studio replaces and refines the cockpit interior in 1:72 scale. These are 3D printed colored pieces printed on decal backing paper, applied as a waterslide decal, and several 3D printed resin parts for raised details come with them. The instrument panels, the side consoles, the levers and the seat belts are preprinted in color, so you reach a realistic cockpit even without painting the small details by hand.

The real subject

The Dassault Mirage 2000D is a French two-seat tactical strike aircraft derived from the fighter version of the Mirage 2000. It is intended above all for precise ground attack in any weather, and it carries guided munitions and reconnaissance pods. The two-seat arrangement with a weapons systems operator in the back is reflected in the more complicated layout of the cockpits, which this set captures.

Use and fitting

• Intended for a particular plastic kit of the matching scale; the decals are shaped to fit its cockpit.
• Spray the surfaces with a base color and go over them with gloss varnish, because the pieces have no adhesive layer of their own and will not hold on matte varnish.
• Cut the piece out, soak it in lukewarm water for about fifteen seconds and slide it off the backing paper into place; on an intricate shape a drop of super glue helps.
• Do not use a decal softener or a decal fixer, as the chemicals attack the printed resin; clean the resin parts of any residue and glue them with super glue.
