An injection-molded plastic kit of the French experimental Dassault Mirage G8.01 fighter in 1:72 scale. It is a completely new mold from the Ukrainian manufacturer Modelsvit with a generous number of parts (on the order of two hundred), a set of photo-etched parts, a self-adhesive mask for the glazing and a decal sheet for one color version. The model allows the wing panels to be set at various sweep angles and the cockpit to be built open or closed.
The Mirage G8 was a prototype of a multirole combat aircraft with a variable-geometry wing, developed in France in the late 1960s. It was powered by a pair of SNECMA Atar 9K-50 jet engines with afterburning and reached more than twice the speed of sound. The first flight took place in 1971, but the program was later terminated and France concentrated on a different direction of development. The machine thus remained an interesting and seldom modeled piece of aviation history.
Glue the plastic parts with thin modeling cement for plastic and the photo-etched elements with super glue. Before painting lay down a primer filler, which will reveal any imperfections in the joints. Silvery and metallic shades look best applied with an airbrush over a smooth base. The masks supplied make spraying the cockpit frames cleanly easier.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
