A short-run injection-molded plastic kit of the Japanese interceptor Mitsubishi J2M2 Raiden in 1:72 scale from Sword. Besides the plastic parts the package also contains resin parts to raise the level of detail. The Allies knew the aircraft under the code name Jack. The exact contents of the set are given in the manufacturer's catalog.
The Mitsubishi J2M Raiden was a land-based interceptor of the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service, designed by the team of Jiro Horikoshi. Unlike the agile Zero, the Raiden was optimized for a fast rate of climb and high-altitude combat against bombers; it therefore had a powerful Mitsubishi Kasei radial engine hidden under an aerodynamically shaped cowling and a more robust, compact fuselage. The J2M2 version (Model 11) belonged to the early operational series of the type.
With a short-run kit, count on more careful cleaning up of the parts and preparation of the mating surfaces. Glue the plastic with a thin modeling cement for plastic. First wash the resin parts free of mold release agent residue, separate them carefully from the casting blocks and bond them with super glue (cyanoacrylate); protect your airways when sanding resin. Apply a primer before painting and spray the colors with an airbrush in thin coats.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
