This Reskit item contains Mk.83 bombs fitted with the MAU-91 tail unit in its basic version. The name gives four pieces. It serves to swap the parts from the box for more finely worked ones, without the modeler having to change anything on the airframe side.
The same bomb exists in two versions and the difference lies in the surface of the body. The basic version has a smooth, evenly painted casing, while the protected variant carries a thicker and rougher layer. For the modeler that means different work with the brush and a different final varnish, even though the shape stays the same and the parts are fitted in exactly the same way.
American ordnance is distinguished by its paint and by bands around the body. The colored band behind the nose tends to be conspicuous and is a rewarding detail that brightens a small model. The lettering along the casing is tiny, but it is exactly that which reveals that the modeler paid attention to the stores as well, not only to the cockpit and the surface of the fuselage.
Apply the paint in thin coats so that the fine detail on the casing is not lost. Seat the finished pieces on the rack only once the varnish has dried; you will save yourself fingerprints and damaged fin edges.
