A pair of castings of the heavy Mk.84 bomb with the BSU-50 tail in 1:72 scale for models of American bombers.
Responsibility details are not available.
A pair of resin parts that in 1:72 represent the most powerful ordinary American bomb with a retarding tail. One piece comes out at something over five centimeters, so even in the reduced scale it is a striking element of the external stores. Two pieces correspond to the usual pair on one rack.
A classic bomb in free fall forces the crew to release from altitude, so that the machine gets away from the explosion. The inflatable bag in the tail section settles this problem: the charge slows immediately after release, the aircraft gains a head start and an attack can be made from a low level as well. On a model the difference shows precisely at the tail, which is shorter and wider than on the bare version. In modeling terms it is a rewarding detail that even someone who does not know munitions designations will notice.
The racks in bomb bays tend to be undersized in this scale, so always try dry whether the pair of bombs will clear the closing doors. Resin is heavier than plastic, so when hanging it on a thin pylon reckon with a reinforcement of wire. The surface only needs dulling with very fine abrasive paper; a coarser grain would wipe the fine engraving away. Tune the edges and the catches of the doors only after the bombs are in place, otherwise the dimensions add up and the clearance disappears.
An aircraft and pylons do not belong with the pair of bombs; you obtain them separately.
