This set in 1:72 scale contains four guns, twenty-four crew figures in six poses and four pack horses. Its special feature is twelve interchangeable barrels in three versions, so from a single box you can build both a lighter and a heavier cannon as well as a howitzer. Limbers, horse teams and drivers are not included in the package; the set depicts a gun in its firing position.
Prussian artillery went through the same reforms as the rest of the army after 1806 and entered the final campaigns in substantially better shape. Batteries were built from guns of a single caliber, so that ammunition would not get mixed up, and that is why the interchangeable barrels in the set are practical: according to the barrel you choose you build a battery of one type. The crew was divided into loaders, layers and ammunition passers, and every soldier had a firmly assigned place at the gun that had to be held even under fire.
Decide in advance what battery you are building and pick the barrels before you start gluing. The wheels have fine spokes, so separate them with a sharp knife. The wooden parts of the carriages look better when you draw a thin glaze into the joints after the base color. Arrange the crews in natural roles around the gun and unify them with a single uniform shade.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
