It is a short-run kit with finely engraved detail but higher demands on the build — the parts need more careful cleaning up and fitting, so we recommend it rather to more advanced modelers. The exact contents of the package and the marking schemes are given in the enclosed instructions.
The Q was the most numerously built version of the Airacobra, and the late Q-25 production batch was among its high points. Against the early versions it received a reworked armament — instead of small-caliber wing machine guns it carried underwing gondolas with heavy machine guns — along with other small changes to the airframe and the propeller. The Q version machines delivered to the Soviet Union became the backbone of the fighter units there, fielded at low and medium altitudes, where their sturdy structure and strong nose armament stood out.
With a short-run kit, expect careful cleaning up of the parts and a trial dry fit. Paint the cockpit before closing the fuselage. Apply a primer to the plastic, which will show up the gaps that need touching in. Soviet machines of the Q version offer varied schemes — from green-gray camouflage to winter oversprayed coats and bold tactical numbers. Pick out the engraved detail with a wash, add the underwing gondolas only after the base painting and lay the decals on a gloss varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
