An injection-molded plastic kit of the American Republic P-47C-2 Thunderbolt fighter in the early form with a razorback spine, in 1:72 scale by the Czech maker Kovozavody Prostejov (KP). It is a short-run kit with finely engraved panel lines. This box captures the early C-2 production subvariant; the later C-5 subvariant comes as a separate model. Check the exact package contents against the box and the instructions.
The Republic P-47 Thunderbolt was a massive American fighter of the Second World War with a Pratt & Whitney radial engine and the nickname Jug. The early versions had what was called a razorback, a raised fuselage spine behind the cockpit. The C series was among the first Thunderbolts committed to combat. The C-2 subvariant introduced a centerline fuselage rack for a bomb or a drop tank and kept the classic antenna mast of the earlier C series machines. Thunderbolts of this period operated above all over western Europe.
On a short-run kit, clean the flash off the parts first and dry-fit them before gluing; the joints often need local filling and sanding to bring them true. Pay attention to the seating of the radial engine, the canopy and the clear parts. Thin liquid cement for plastic, a primer and spraying with an airbrush work well.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
