An injection-molded plastic kit of the single-seat North American P-51D Mustang fighter in 1:72 scale from Revell. The model is meant to be glued and painted, and the package contains decals for an American scheme and small equipment such as drop tanks and a pilot figure. It is an older, proven tooling that makes a pleasant entry into building fighters in a small scale.
The P-51D Mustang is among the most significant fighters of the Second World War. Thanks to its powerful Packard-Merlin engine and its long range, which jettisonable drop tanks increased still further, it escorted Allied bombers deep over enemy territory. The characteristic teardrop cockpit canopy gave an excellent view, and the Mustang earned a reputation as a fast and agile aircraft.
Separate the parts from the sprues with a sharp knife and glue them with a thin plastic modeling cement. Apply a primer before painting; the silvery metal surfaces of unpainted Mustangs come out well with an airbrush. A gloss varnish under the decals prevents air bubbles from drying in, and a flat varnish evens out the final surface.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
