This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from PST captures an unusual captured machine — a Soviet heavy tank of the KV series taken by the Germans and rearmed with the German 7.5 cm KwK 40 gun. The kit, to be glued and painted, will please collectors looking for a less usual subject with a double pedigree, a Soviet chassis and German armament.
The German army used the designation Pz.Kpfw. 753(r) for captured Soviet KV heavy tanks, with the letter r referring to their Russian origin. Some of these captured machines were modified by the Germans and fitted with the proven 7.5 cm KwK 40 tank gun, which was also used on the Panzer IV medium tanks. Captured armor served on the Eastern Front as a rule in small numbers and makes a rewarding, atypical subject for collectors.
We recommend assembling the running gear and any interior before closing up the hull. Glue the plastic with thin cement, sand the seams and spray the surface with a base color. For a captured machine in German service, German shades and markings suit well; finish the look with weathering — a wash into the recesses, dust and mud pigments and rubbing on the edges.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
