Flyhawk FH3003 Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. L Luchs is a 1:72 plastic kit of the German reconnaissance tank in the version with additional armor.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the German light reconnaissance tank in 1:72 scale. This release captures the vehicle with additional armor plates on the front. The box includes photo-etched parts, a color instruction sheet and a card base on which the finished model can be stood straight away. The manufacturer is known for very fine molds, so even in a small scale the model shows detail that elsewhere has to be added with accessories.
The Pz.Kpfw. II Ausf. L, nicknamed Luchs, was the last link in the development line of the light Panzer II and came about as a purely reconnaissance vehicle. It had a wider hull, interleaved road wheels and a high speed; the armament remained weak, a 20 mm automatic cannon and a machine gun, because the task was to see and report, not to fight. Only a little over a hundred were built and they served with reconnaissance detachments on the Eastern Front and in the west. The additional armor on the front was a late modification meant to give the crew a chance of surviving a chance encounter.
Assemble and paint the running gear before you fit the fenders, because afterwards there is no getting in between the wheels. Bend the photo-etched parts in a bending tool, not with your fingers. In 1:72 everything looks stronger, so mix the colors lighter than reality would call for and put the shadows only into the recesses. Apply the mud and dust effects sparingly and from the bottom upwards, so that the model does not disappear under the weathering.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
