Injection-molded plastic model of the Italian Reggiane Re-2005 Sagittario fighter in 1:72 scale from the Czech brand RS Models. It is a short-run kit with finely engraved surfaces and clear cockpit parts; the box is usually rounded out by decals for several finishes. Thanks to the modest parts count it is a compact project for fans of less common aircraft.
The Re-2005 was one of the so-called Serie 5 fighters - Italian aircraft powered by the inverted V12 Daimler-Benz DB 605, built in Italy under license as the Fiat RA.1050. It stood out for its elegant aerodynamic shapes and, for its day, good armament and flight performance. Only a small number of these aircraft were built and they saw combat at the end of Italy's part in the Second World War, among other places in the defense of Sicily and Rome.
As with most short-run kits, dry-fit the parts first, clean up the sprue gates and adjust the joints - the molds have no locating pins. Glue with thin modeling cement for plastic, fill the joints and sand them smooth. Prime the model before painting and spray in thin coats with an airbrush; bring out the Italian camouflage with light panel shading and a wash.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
