Responsibility details are not available.
A set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale from the HäT brand. The package holds forty-eight figures in eight poses. The subject is legionaries in reinforced armor, that is soldiers with added protection for the arms and the legs. The figures are unpainted. The set complements the ordinary legionary, auxiliary and command units from the same maker and forms a conspicuous elite element in a formation.
Reinforced armor appeared with the Roman army as an answer to opponents with hard cutting weapons. The segmented cuirass was supplemented by an arm guard of transverse bands and by plate greaves, the equipment we know from the Dacian Wars of the emperor Trajan. Only part of the men wore it, because it was heavy and expensive, and it was used mainly in attacks on fortifications and in fighting against an enemy with the falx.
Wash the figures, dry them and spray them with a flexible primer. The reinforced armor is the main motif of the set: a dark base and a dry brush with a steel shade will pick every band out. Keep the leather elements a warmer brown; the contrast with the metal holds the figure together. Paint the shields on the sprue and suggest the uniform device with two strokes, as detailed drawing is counterproductive in a small scale.
The figures are supplied unpainted and unassembled. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
