HäT 8266 Rome's Enemies is a 1:72 set with seventy-two figures of four barbarian peoples, eighteen figures of each.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale contains seventy-two figures, divided evenly between four barbarian peoples: Picts, Saxons, Franks and Visigoths. There are eighteen figures of each. It came about by combining four smaller sets which the maker once listed separately and which were then unobtainable for a long time; this edition brings them back together in one box. It is supplied unpainted.
The four peoples in the set cover the opponents Rome struggled with on different frontiers and in different centuries. The Picts attacked northern Britain from beyond the Wall, the Saxons came by sea to the coasts of Britain and Gaul, the Franks settled along the lower Rhine, and the Visigoths, after entering the empire, became the force that finally sacked Rome itself in 410. Their weapons and appearance differed; what they had in common was that against a close-ordered legion they set mobility and individual combat.
Barbarian figures owe their final effect to a lack of uniformity: it pays to work with several earthy shades of cloth and to avoid the impression of a uniform. Bare skin shows more here than on other sets, so give it attention and leave both shadow and light on it. Paint the shields separately and put the pattern on them while they are still loose in your hand.
The figures are supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and bases are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
