This is a set of pre-cut (die-cut) self-adhesive painting masks for the Aérospatiale SA.330 Puma transport helicopter in 1:72 from KV Models. It is not a helicopter model but an accessory for masking while paint is sprayed. The masks are cut for specific kits, Airfix and Heller; on another Puma kit they may not fit. The set contains masks for the canopy glazing and masks for the wheels (tires and hubs).
Instead of laboriously laying narrow masking tape over the rounded window frames, you simply stick down an accurately cut mask, spray the paint and take the mask off. The result is clean, sharp edges of the glazing frames. The wheel masks separate the tire from the hub, so an even, sharp transition arises with no paint running over. Each mask matches the shape of a particular part of the given Airfix or Heller kit.
Stick the masks onto a clean, degreased surface and press them carefully into every recess; a pointed wooden stick helps. Spray the paint in thin coats so that it does not run under the edge of the mask; the sharpest edge comes on a clean coat with no overspray. Take the mask off shortly after the paint has dried, while the coat has not fully hardened, so that the edge does not tear. Do not stretch the masks, or they will stop fitting.
This is an accessory for a kit, not a model. The kit, paints and glue are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
