An injection-molded plastic kit of the German Jagdpanther (Sd.Kfz.173) heavy tank destroyer in 1:72 scale from Zvezda, made as a snap-fit. That means the plastic parts fit together and hold without glue, so the kit suits beginners and a quick build. Cut the parts from the sprues with a knife or nippers and, after assembly, paint the model with enamels or acrylics. The kit is supplied unassembled and unpainted.
The Jagdpanther was among the best balanced tank destroyers of the Second World War. It was built on the chassis of the Panther medium tank and in a fixed, well armored superstructure it carried a powerful 8.8 cm gun with a long barrel, able to destroy Allied tanks at long range. The combination of strong frontal protection, good mobility and a penetrating weapon made it a feared opponent, even though relatively few were built and they were committed only in the late phase of the war. Its clean, sloped silhouette is among the most popular with modelers.
Even though it is a snap-fit, you can strengthen the joints at a few points with a plastic cement to be sure. Assemble the running gear and the tracks before closing up the hull. Spray the model with a primer, apply the base coat with an airbrush and then work with washes and pigments; on the large flat armor plates of the Jagdpanther a period three-color camouflage as well as dust and mud weathering will stand out beautifully.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
