A plastic kit of the German heavy tank Tiger II, the Sd.Kfz. 182 King Tiger (Henschel turret), in 1:72 scale from Meng. Watch out for the small parts of a small scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
This injection-molded plastic kit in 1:72 scale from Meng represents the German heavy tank Tiger II, known as the King Tiger (Königstiger), in the version with the production Henschel turret. Given the small 1:72 scale it contains a number of small parts. The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted; the exact contents of the package and the decals offered are stated by the manufacturer.
The Tiger II was a German heavy tank of the end of the Second World War that combined heavy frontal armor protection with sloped plates and powerful armament. It was armed with the long 88 mm KwK 43 L/71 gun of high penetrating power. The production Henschel turret removed the weakness of the earlier Porsche turret (the shot trap under the turret front) and had a flatter front that was simpler to manufacture. The steeply sloped front hull plate reached a considerable thickness and made the tank hard to penetrate from the front; the price was high weight and demanding operation.
First assemble and paint the running gear (wheels, tracks) and any interior detail before you close the hull, because once it is glued there is no access to them. In 1:72 scale be careful when cutting the small parts off the sprues and clean up the flash thoroughly. Glue the joints with a thin modeling cement for plastic, apply a primer before painting and spray the camouflage with an airbrush; apply the markings over a gloss coat. Pick out the lower hull, the running surfaces and the tracks with washes and pigments, because mud and dust effects give a tank a realistic patina.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
