This injection-molded plastic kit captures the two-seat combat trainer version of the fighter-bomber with its variable-geometry wing. Modelsvit is a Ukrainian maker on the edge of short-run production, so the kit is richly equipped but more demanding on precision: it contains photo-etched parts, self-adhesive masks, two versions of the canopy (open and closed) and decals for several machines. The movable wing geometry is a nice touch.
The Su-22 was the export variant of the Soviet Su-17 family of fighter-bombers with a variable-geometry wing. The UM3K version served as a two-seat trainer with full combat capability and was used by a number of foreign air forces. The airplane combined a simple, rugged structure with good range and weapons load.
Dry-fit the parts before gluing. Use liquid cement for the plastic and super glue for the photo-etched parts. We recommend a primer; the masks supplied make spraying the canopy frames easier. An airbrush helps with the soft transitions of camouflage schemes.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
