Supermarine Spitfire PR Type C – Heston Special (1940-1941) is a plastic kit of the early photo-reconnaissance version of the Spitfire in 1:72 scale from manufacturer IBG models.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the early photo-reconnaissance (PR) version of the Supermarine Spitfire fighter in 1:72 scale from Polish manufacturer IBG models. It is a new, modern tooling; the package combines plastic sprues (gray and clear) with a photo-etched fret and 3D-printed resin parts for fine detail, plus a decal sheet with several RAF marking options. The model depicts a reconnaissance Spitfire modified by Heston Aircraft (hence Heston Special) in 1940–1941.
The Spitfire PR Type C was one of the first photo-reconnaissance conversions of the Supermarine Spitfire fighter. The aircraft had their armament removed, gained extra fuel for greater range, and carried photographic equipment; they flew unarmed and relied on speed and altitude. They served with RAF reconnaissance units over occupied Europe and contributed significantly to gathering intelligence in the early period of the war.
Glue the plastic parts with thin liquid cement for polystyrene, and attach the resin 3D-printed parts and photo-etch with cyanoacrylate (super glue). Apply a primer before painting. An airbrush and application in thin coats suit the fine photo-reconnaissance camouflage schemes; leave the small photo-etched and clear parts until the final stage of the build.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints, and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
