An injection-molded plastic kit of the Soviet UAZ-469 off-road car with the SPG-9 recoilless gun in the configuration of the East German National People's Army (NVA), in 1:72 scale from the Czech maker MAC Distribution. The model is supplied as a set of parts to be glued and painted; it is a short-run kit with fine detail.
The UAZ-469 was a Soviet light off-road car with all-wheel drive, the counterpart of Western jeeps, which spread from the 1960s into the armies of the Warsaw Pact states. The SPG-9 is a Soviet recoilless gun of 73 mm caliber intended to destroy armored targets and to support the infantry; mounted on a light car it gained mobility and the ability to be moved quickly. The combination of the UAZ and the SPG-9 served with the NVA among others, the armed forces of the former German Democratic Republic.
Assemble the chassis, the axles and the frame first; finish the interior of the open car before you fit the superstructure and the weapon. The recoilless gun stands out visually, so clean up the barrel and its mounting. Paint over a primer in the matching NVA green. Draw out the panel lines with a dark wash and weather the wheels and the underside of the car with pigments (dust, mud); bring the metal parts of the weapon up lightly.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
