HäT 8199 German Jäger of 1914 is a set of plastic figures in 1:72 with forty-eight figures of light infantry.
Responsibility details are not available.
A set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale with forty-eight figures of German Jäger, that is, light infantry battalions, as they appeared at the start of the First World War. It is supplied unpainted and suits a tabletop game just as well as a diorama.
The Jäger battalions were independent light infantry formations in the German army with a tradition of their own going back to the days when they were filled from foresters and hunters. Their recognizable marks were the shako and a uniform in a gray-green shade that differed noticeably from the field gray of the line infantry, along with weapons and equipment adapted to independent action. The battalions were deployed for reconnaissance, for fighting in woods and mountains, and in the first months of the war as assault units too. The 1914 appearance is the one in which the army entered the campaign, that is, still before the steel helmet came into general use.
Mix the Jäger gray-green so that it is distinguishable beside field gray but not garish; in 1:72 a small shift toward green is enough. The shako has a distinctive shape, so darken it and brighten only the edge. Leave the equipment and the straps for last and work the faces up, because in a small scale they carry the whole expression.
The figures are supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and bases are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
