HäT 8278 Japanese bicycle infantry is a set of plastic figures in 1:72 scale - twelve Japanese soldiers of the Second World War together with bicycles.
Responsibility details are not available.
This HäT figure set in 1:72 scale captures Japanese infantry on bicycles from the years 1941 to 1945. The box contains twelve figures and bicycles to go with them, and the figures are laid out in four poses. They are supplied unpainted, and the bicycles need to be assembled before the figures are fitted.
For the Japanese army the bicycle was a cheap and quiet way to move infantry faster than on foot and without any demand for fuel. The best known use of the bicycle units was the advance down the Malay Peninsula at the turn of 1941 and 1942, when the bicycles proved themselves on narrow plantation roads and in places where a bridge would not have carried a vehicle. The soldiers are shown in field gear with a rifle and a helmet, that is in the form in which they served in Southeast Asia.
Wash the figures and the bicycles first in lukewarm water with a drop of detergent and let them dry thoroughly, so that the paint adheres over the whole surface. The bicycle frames are slender, so separate them from the gate with a sharp knife rather than by twisting. The uniforms will show best if you lighten the base shade on the horizontal surfaces and run a darker tone into the folds; finish the small items such as the belts, the boots and the weapons with a brush at the end.
The figures are supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and a work mat are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
