The Airfix Scammell Tank Transporter is a classic plastic kit of the British tank transporter tractor in 1:76 scale.
Responsibility details are not available.
An injection-molded plastic kit of the British Scammell heavy tractor for transporting tanks in 1:76 scale from Airfix, from the range of classic reissues. The package covers the tractor and the transport trailer. The model is assembled and painted.
The Scammell was a British heavy tractor intended for transporting tanks and damaged vehicles during the Second World War. The trailer was permanently coupled to the tractor and loading went over folding ramps; a vehicle that could not move was winched onto the platform by the tractor with its own winch. The machine was one of the mainstays of British rear-area logistics and maintenance.
The build is straightforward, but watch the alignment of the frame, the platform and the axles; dry-fit the parts. Use thin liquid cement on the plastic. A primer, an airbrush coat and a patina of washes and pigments for the dust and mud effects typical of heavy vehicles are recommended.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
