A detailed injection-molded plastic kit of the classic Bavarian S 3/6 class express steam locomotive (listed as class 18 on the German railways), complete with a tender. The model is in the H0 railroad scale (1:87) and it is a demanding kit meant for experienced modelers. The package holds decals for two marking versions, in Deutsche Bahn and Deutsche Reichsbahn finish.
The S 3/6 was among the most elegant and most powerful European express steam locomotives. It was built from 1908 to 1931 for the Royal Bavarian State Railways and later for the Deutsche Reichsbahn. It was famous for its smooth running and high output, thanks to which it hauled prestige express services well into the middle of the twentieth century.
Use a thin cement for plastic and cut the parts from the sprues with a sharp knife, so that the fine detail of the boiler, the smokebox, the driving wheels and the valve gear is preserved. A primer before painting and an airbrush for an even black or green finish are advisable; polished and metal parts come out well with metallic paints. Apply the decals onto a gloss varnish and seal them with a matte varnish.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
