This kit in 1:87 (HO) scale captures the German class 03 express steam locomotive. It is a static injection-molded plastic model from Revell with a finely rendered boiler, running gear and tender, and with a decal sheet for several finishes. The model is meant to be built and displayed; it is not a powered railroad model.
Class 03 was a German express steam locomotive derived from the heavier express machines of the 1930s, designed for a lower axle load and lighter lines. It was marked out by its large driving wheels and by power suited to express traffic; it stayed in service until the end of the steam era.
This is a detailed model with a higher part count. We recommend thin plastic cement, careful clean-up of the small parts of the running gear, and gluing the connecting rods and linkages only after painting. Use a primer and an airbrush; add fine highlighting of the engraving and the riveting to the black and the metallic shades. Apply the decals over a smooth clear coat.
The model is supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
