HäT 28021 Almoravid heavy cavalry is a set of 28mm figures in hard plastic from the range devoted to the era of El Cid.
Responsibility details are not available.
This HäT figure set in the 28 mm wargaming scale contains riders and horses of Almoravid heavy cavalry. It is the counterpart of the light cavalry from the same range, devoted to the fighting on the Iberian peninsula in the eleventh century. The figures are of hard plastic and are joined with ordinary modeling cement for polystyrene. The manufacturer does not state the number of pieces, so check it on the packaging.
In Berber armies the heavy cavalry was the assault element meant to decide an engagement by its charge. The riders wore armor, carried a spear and a large shield and attacked in close order; against dispersed light detachments they were slower, but in a direct clash far stronger. The combination of fast light horsemen and a hard-hitting heavy core was what gave the Almoravid armies the upper hand on the Iberian peninsula, and what the Christian kingdoms had to learn to fight.
Seat the riders only once the horse is painted. The spears are thin and they break; broken ones are replaced with steel wire glued into a drilled hole. Paint the shields separately, pattern and all, while you still have them loose in your hand. Do the metal parts of the armor with a dark base and a dry brush in a metal tone, so that the texture stands out.
The figures are supplied unpainted and unassembled. Paints, glue and bases are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
