HäT 28007 Almoravid heavy infantry is a set of 28 mm figures in hard plastic - thirty-two figures from the time of El Cid.
Responsibility details are not available.
This set of HäT figures in the 28 mm wargaming scale contains thirty-two figures of Almoravid heavy infantry. It belongs to a range devoted to the fighting on the Iberian peninsula in the eleventh century, which covers three sides of the conflict, each of them in four sets: heavy and light infantry, heavy and light cavalry. The figures are in hard polystyrene and are joined with ordinary modeling cement.
The Almoravids were a Berber movement from northwest Africa which asserted itself in the Maghreb in the second half of the eleventh century and then entered Spain to help the Muslim taifas hard pressed by the Christian kingdoms. Their foot formation relied on close ranks of spearmen with tall shields, behind which archers took cover; it was accompanied by drums, which worked on the enemy as strongly as the impact itself. It was against them that Rodrigo Diaz de Vivar, known as El Cid, led his campaign.
The spears in this range are thin and fragile, so separate them carefully and do not hold the figures by them while painting; if one breaks, steel wire glued into a drilled hole will replace it. You will make painting easier if you set the shields aside, paint them separately along with the pattern and attach them only at the end. The cloth parts will take earthy, muted shades; darken the metal and lighten only the edges.
The figures are supplied unpainted. Paints, glue and bases are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
