A set of unpainted figures of Andalusian heavy infantry in 28 millimeter size, that is the usual size for tabletop wargames. It belongs to the line devoted to the eleventh-century Iberian Peninsula, from which both sides of the conflicts of the time can be put together. The figures of this line are in hard plastic on sprues, so they are glued with ordinary modeling cement and paint holds on them without any special preparation.
In the eleventh century Muslim Andalusia was broken up into a number of small states that competed with one another and hired soldiers wherever they could, Christian lords among them. The heavy infantry formed the firm basis of the array: it fought with a spear and a large shield and was meant to hold the line while the light cavalry harassed the enemy from the flanks. It was exactly this combination that set the Andalusian armies apart from the northern Christian kingdoms.
Wash the figures in lukewarm soapy water so that any residue from the mold is removed. Separate them from the sprue with nippers at a distance and trim the remainder off with a knife. Apply a primer and only then paint. It pays to paint the shields separately and glue them on at the end, because they carry patterns of their own and would be hard to paint on the figure.
The figures are supplied unassembled and unpainted. Glue, paints and accessories are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
