A publication from the Topdrawings modeling series of the Kagero publishing house, number 31, devoted to the Japanese light cruiser Yahagi.
Responsibility details are not available.
The Yahagi was a light cruiser of the Imperial Japanese Navy, one of the four units of the Agano class. These were fast ships meant to lead destroyer flotillas, with a balanced ratio between speed and armament. The Yahagi was lost in April 1945 during the final sortie of the Japanese force toward Okinawa, in which the battleship Yamato also took part. For a modeler she is a rewarding subject, because she combines a slim hull with a dense superstructure and with the heavy anti-aircraft armament of the end of the war.
The Topdrawings series is built around drawings: the backbone is plans of the ship in views and sections, with illustrations of individual assemblies added. Modelers use them during the build and above all when refining the superstructure, the armament and the rigging, where a plastic kit tends to be simplified. The exact extent, the scales of the drawings and the language of the accompanying texts are given by the publisher with the particular volume.
It will be appreciated by builders of ship models who want support for the shapes at hand and do not want to rely on the kit instructions alone. It also serves collectors of literature on the Imperial Japanese Navy of the Second World War and as background for building dioramas on naval subjects.
This is a printed publication. A model, decals and photo-etched parts are not part of the delivery, unless stated otherwise.
