A set of six sheets solves a situation known to anyone who has tried to spray a straight colored band across a curved fuselage. The tape has to be laid in two lines, the same width kept between them along the whole length, and then you can only hope the paint does not creep under. A finished decal stripe gets around that: it is laid on, moved into the right position and made to follow the shape of the surface.
The package holds one sheet in each of six colors. Besides black, white and silver, these are three shades derived from British aviation markings: roundel red, insignia yellow and the blue intended for roundel stripes. Each sheet carries stripes in nine widths, so the modeler chooses by scale and by whether they are building the border of a national marking, a dividing line between fields of a color scheme or a narrow stripe around a number.
The base has to be gloss and perfectly smooth, otherwise air will be trapped under a long narrow stripe and it will go gray. Cut with a sharp scalpel directly on the sheet and take pieces a little longer than you need; the surplus is sanded off once dry. Over the edge of a bend a decal softener applied with a brush and gentle pressure with a cotton bud will help. At the end comes a thin clear coat, so that the edge of the stripe does not stand out as a step, and only onto that go the matting and the traces of use. Speeding the drying with a hairdryer does not pay: the carrier film shrinks, the stripe ripples and a straight line is suddenly useless.
