A self-healing cutting mat in A3 format in a black finish. The mark left by a blade largely closes up after the cut, so the mat stays smooth for a long time and the knife does not slip into old grooves on it. The black base has a further practical advantage: light plastic parts, photo-etch and small offcuts stand out on it, so you do not spend as long looking for them.
It serves as a base when cutting plastic sheet, photo-etch, films, paper and masking tape, and at the same time it protects the table. It also comes into its own as a working surface for gluing and painting, because dried drops usually peel off it easily without staying on the table.
Cut with a sharp knife, because a blunt blade tears the mat rather than cutting it. Do not expose it to heat or direct sunlight, as it could warp permanently. Do not cut on it with a hot tool. Wipe it with a damp cloth after work; residues of glue and paint would otherwise stay on the surface and transfer onto the parts during the next cutting session.
Do not expose the mat to heat or direct sunlight. Store it flat so that it does not warp. Also do not use the mat as a mixing surface for paints, because pigment residues are hard to remove from it.
