Paints for houses, yards and town backdrops

A building in a diorama is known by its materials. Plaster fades and flakes off, brick darkens with the traces of rain, timbering turns gray, sheet-metal roofing rusts and a railing loses its gloss. This offering is put together so that one package is enough for a whole object from the foundations to the ridge of the roof.

Which tones are inside

Fifteen covering paints are completed by a gloss varnish. A light green, an olive and an interior greenish tone cover shutters, gates and furniture, brown tones from light to dark brown serve for wood and earth, a mahogany goes on beams and treads, a light gray on plaster and concrete, black on wrought items. They are completed by a yellow, a blue, an Italian red for roof tiles and a pair of metal tones for hinges, handles and gutters.

A procedure that has proved itself

It pays to start from the lightest area, that is from the plaster, and only then to layer the shadows in the corners and under the sills. For brick it suits to spray the base tone on and then to paint the individual pieces in with a brush, so that a wall does not look printed. The gloss varnish is not used over the whole building but in spots where the surface is meant to shine: on panes, glass and a freshly painted railing.

Where it suits

It finds its use in town as well as country scenes, in station buildings, workshops and ruins. The same palette works on boundary walls, fences and bridge abutments, so that a scene holds together in a single key.

A roof tends to be the largest continuous area of a whole object, and that is why it decides the impression a building makes most of all. It pays to work on it in bands and to leave a slight difference in depth of color between the individual rows of tiles, or the area will set into a single uniform field.
