A cutting mat in A3 format, 42 x 29.7 cm in size. You work on it with a knife, a snap-off scalpel and bristle tools, and it protects the bench top while you do. It is not an accessory for a kit but equipment for the work place.
For anyone who builds on a table that is not a workshop bench and needs a defined working field. The A3 format covers the whole working area including a kit sprue set aside, and is still portable, so it can be put on a shelf with a model in progress once work is over. The second reason is prosaic: cutting on a hard top blunts the edge after a few cuts, and the modeler then presses harder than necessary and tears off a part or slips into a finger. A proper mat therefore protects not only the furniture but also the quality of the cut and, in the end, the part itself.
A knife and other tools are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise. Do not load the mat with hot tools, because a thermal scriber or a soldering iron will melt it. Wipe solvent-based glues and thinners off the surface quickly, and do not store the mat rolled up or near a source of heat, so that it does not deform permanently.
