A coarse light grit of 2 to 5 mm size for rubble, stone walls, landslides and ruins in terrain cutaways.
Responsibility details are not available.
The largest of the grades offered in this color no longer hides the individual grains; on the contrary, it counts on them. A piece of 2 to 5 mm size represents in 1:35 a boulder two soldiers could barely lift, in 1:72 a smaller rock. The material belongs at the foot of rock faces, in a quarry, on a heap of quarried stone, in a tumbled boundary wall and among the ruins of a house hit by a shell.
A coarse grain does not take being spread evenly. A landslide arises from the largest pieces ending up at the bottom and the smallest staying at the top; ruins, by contrast, need clusters with empty places between them. Pick the pieces with tweezers and lay the striking ones individually; only then scatter the rest. Credibility is helped a great deal by a few of the largest stones touching a neighboring object and partly covering it.
Larger pieces do not hold on thinned glue alone; they need a thicker drop under them. On a slope it has proved best to set the supporting stones first, to wait and only then to scatter the finer fill around them. In color, coarse grit is easily brought to life: a dark glaze will flow into the shadows between the stones, a light dry brush will pull the edges out and a touch of green in a sheltered spot will suggest moss on the north side.
A coarse fraction runs out faster than you expect, because it covers volume, not area. Before you start gluing, lay the heap out dry and only then fix it, so that you do not stop halfway through a landslide.
