A red-brown granulate in a 1 to 2 mm grade for dirt tracks, brick rubble and crushed material around buildings.
Responsibility details are not available.
The medium grade in a rusty shade matches what is left of a broken brick, of fired clay or of weathered sandstone. A 1 to 2 mm grain is distinct enough for the viewer to pick out the individual pieces, yet fine enough to spread into a continuous surface. It works on the approach road to a farmstead, in the backfill around foundations, on the floor of a bombed-out cellar and as a bed under a field kitchen.
The most convincing use is below damaged masonry. The fallen rubble should start right at the crack and widen into a fan whose edge gradually thins out. A few larger pieces of brick laid on top tie the wall to the ground and hide the transition between the building and the base, which otherwise gives away that the two were built separately.
The raw red tone is strong at first. You can subdue it with a thin gray glaze that runs between the grains and leaves the tops light, or by scattering the dust grade of the same color over it. Combined with a gray material it suggests mortar crushed together with the brick.
Make the ruts before the binder becomes tacky: press two parallel tracks in with a wheel off a model or a blunt stick and leave the displaced material heaped along the sides. Once it has cured the shape can no longer be changed. Use the same stick to mark the print of a pole base or the spot where a cart turned again and again.
Granulate spread evenly looks like carpet. Break it up so that the base shows through in places, a handful extra lies elsewhere and the layer fades away to nothing at the edges. Irregularity is the only thing that tells terrain apart from a sprinkled sheet of cardboard.
