A black scatter with a wide grain range of 0.1 to 2 mm. The fine and the medium fraction in one container give sintered surfaces with an irregular structure.
Responsibility details are not available.
What makes this grade interesting is the width of its range. While the other containers aim at a narrow band of sizes, here dust meets visible pieces in a single pot. The resulting surface is therefore neither smooth nor coarse but sintered, exactly the way cooled slag looks, or burnt aggregate under tracks, or a clinker surface behind a workshop lean-to.
Industrial and postwar dioramas are the first choice. A clinker path, a heap by a furnace, the area around a field repair shop, a burnt orchard: the material suits all of this better than a uniform grain, because real waste never has a calibrated size. The second use is volcanic: a hillside strewn with ejecta, where fine ash alternates with larger fragments.
In terms of color the material goes well with gray and rusty tones, which makes it a rewarding base under laid-up equipment. A little orange or ocher grain scattered into the black suggests corrosion that has worked its way into the sintered surface over years without human attention. Rather than mixing the container before pouring, leave it alone: the separated layers inside let you take the coarser pieces off the top and the fine fraction from the bottom.
