Earth is a brown earthy shade from the Game Air line by Vallejo. It belongs among the colors used up fastest on the workbench, because brown makes the ground for most natural surfaces: the soil and dust on a base, worn ruts, trunks and logs, leather straps, satchels and boots and wooden grips and handles. It also serves well as a damping tone that knocks the excessive saturation off another color.
On bases and terrain areas it works as an overall ground onto which lighter tones and pigments are then added with a dry brush. On figures it manages the leather and wooden parts; on vehicles it serves to suggest a deposit of soil in a wheel arch, on the running gear or around the lower edges. Because this is an acrylic paint mixable with the other shades of the same manufacturer, a whole range from dark mud to dried-out dust is easily prepared from it.
Shake the bottle thoroughly before every use, as the pigment settles at the bottom. Spray or paint in thin coats; one heavy coat will flood the relief of the surface and the details will be lost. Wash and degrease the surface and apply a base color, which will markedly improve the adhesion. Rinse the airbrush and the brushes out right after finishing the work.
