Four Metal Color shades of 32 ml focused on the engine bay: a duralumin tone, copper, gun gray and the color of heated exhaust pipes.
Responsibility details are not available.
An open engine cowling is the place on a model where the most different metals meet over the smallest area. The block casing has a different sheen from the exhaust pipes, copper lines differ from steel rods, and none of it will stand being painted in one color.
The selection here aims at exactly this situation. The duralumin tone handles the supporting structure and the cowling, copper the pipes and wires, a dark gun gray the weapons and steel parts, and the last shade is mixed to capture the surface of an exhaust which repeated heating has turned brown.
The pigment is ground very finely in an alcohol binder, so it can be sprayed unthinned and at low pressure. The dried layer is thin and will not hide fine detail, which with an engine full of pipework is decisive. Before varnishing it is advisable to let it harden considerably longer than seems necessary at first glance.
Exhaust parts are worth finishing with pigment powders. Dry powder applied to paint that is not yet dry creates a matte cast matching burned metal, and the transition between the hot and the cool part of the pipe can be blended away with a brush.
Copper areas, by contrast, deserve the opposite treatment: once dry they are polished with a cotton swab, by which the pigment is compacted and the surface gains a real metallic shine.
What is supplied is four bottles with a total volume of 128 milliliters. Pigment powders, protective varnishes and spraying equipment are not part of the price.
