The largest pieces in a naturally blended tone. A 353 cm3 bag for boulder-strewn streams, landslides and rock footings.

Combining the coarsest grade with uneven natural coloring gives you a material for the places where water forces its way between large rocks. Every piece has a different shade, so the impression is of boulders torn from different layers of the rock face and carried down by the current.
Large pieces act as the anchor points of the composition. Set into the current they break up the surface and justify the white foam; on the bank they form steps that a figure or a vehicle wheel can lean against. In smaller scales the same material works as an entire stony hillside.
A volume of 353 cm3 is enough for several prominent groups. An irregular arrangement looks best, with the rocks gathered into clusters and open areas left between them, because spreading them evenly over the whole surface gives away their artificial origin. Where you can use it:
A single large block in the middle of a scene can carry the story. A boulder that has fallen onto a mountain road explains why a truck is standing there and why figures are gathered around it. A piece of rock wedged in the current decides where the water rises and foams. So it pays to pick out the two or three most striking pieces first and build the rest of the surface around them, not the other way around.
