A gloss fluorescent yellow, listed in the Mr.Color line under designation C172. Signal yellow appears on aircraft and equipment meant to be visible from a distance — on training aircraft, rescue equipment, wingtips, targets and racing cars. The gloss surface also takes decals well and can always be overcoated with a matte varnish.
The paint suits both an airbrush and a brush. Choose the thinner and mixing ratio per the manufacturer's instructions on the package, using thinner made for this line. Stir the bottle's contents thoroughly before use, since the pigment settles at the bottom. Work in several thin coats; one heavy coat will fill in fine relief and dry unevenly.
Fluorescent shades have low covering power. They show their full effect over a light base, ideally white; over a dark area they stay dull even with more coats. It therefore pays to lay down a white undercoat first and apply the yellow only over it. Signal shades also hold up worse under prolonged light, so avoid leaving the finished model in direct sunlight.
Builders of training and rescue aircraft, racing car modelers, and anyone who needs a striking signal area on a model will appreciate this paint. It also works well for small warning stripes and markings, where a few brush strokes are enough, and as a base under signal decals. The paint is sold on its own; thinner, brushes and a model are not included in the package, unless stated otherwise.
