A vinyl sheet with a dense dark green grass layer measuring 31.7 x 35.8 cm. The surface does not shed, it can be cut and, in the place of a road or a stream, scraped down to the smooth film.

A vinyl sheet with a fused grass layer shortens work that spreading static grass over glue would otherwise take. The fibers do not shed, the shade does not fade and the carrying film resists tearing, so a sheet stands up to being taken off again and again as well as to a trip to an exhibition. The darker green corresponds to growth in the shade of crowns and fits the edge of a wood, a clearing or the undergrowth along a forest road.
The format of 31.7 x 35.8 cm is reckoned for a small diorama, a display base or a test area on which a modeler tries a procedure out before letting it onto a large layout. A cut with scissors holds its shape and the edges do not fray.
Where a road, a channel or a footpath is to run, the grass fiber is simply scraped off down to the smooth area beneath it. The uncovered band is then coated with paint or poured over with model water and a scene gains depth. Trees, bushes and fine scatter are glued straight into the grass, because it has a dense enough fiber for glue to hold.
A finished sheet can be glued down fast, or rolled up once the work is over and stored in a tube. The second way suits where one area serves several scenes in turn.
It will be reached for by modelers who want to have a green base finished in a moment, and also by those who are only trying landscape building out and do not want to start with mixing scatter. The fastness of the shade means that a piece bought later follows on in color from the first one.
