Free Planets Alliance Standard Battleship Green Semi-Gloss

A semi-gloss green from the XGC line

A modeling paint from the XGC series of the Gunze Mr.Color brand, listed under the name Free Planets Alliance Standard Battleship Green. It is a green shade in a semi-gloss finish, that is with a slight sheen somewhere between matte and full gloss.

What it is suited to

The name of the shade refers to the green of the standard battleships of the Free Planets Alliance, that is to a color from one science-fiction subject. You can use it anywhere you need a subdued green, though: on large areas of a hull, on small accessories and on figures. A semi-gloss surface is practical in that decals hold on it without a silvery haze and it will take a wash into the pressings, so you do not have to clear-coat the model separately before the next steps.

How to work with the paint

• Shake the bottle properly before use; the pigment sits at the bottom.
• The thinner and the thinning ratio for spraying and for a brush are given by the manufacturer in the instructions on the packaging.
• Apply the paint in several thin coats, not in one thick one.
• Wash and degrease the surface of the model before painting; paint does not hold on greasy plastic.
• Try the shade on an offcut; on a large area it looks different from in the bottle.

Who it is for

For builders of science-fiction models who want a shade matching the given line, and for modelers who find a subdued green with a slight sheen useful in a palette. The paint is supplied on its own; the thinner, a brush and a model are not included, unless stated otherwise.
