The XGC series from the Mr.Color range holds shades mixed to an animated science fiction source. These are satin greenish tones and a gloss white, which makes them colours for the large hulls of spacecraft, where the surface is measured in tens of square centimetres and an uneven coat shows at once.
On parts like that the paint is practically always sprayed rather than brushed.
One rule governs large hulls: six thin coats beat two heavy ones. The paint settles evenly, does not run on the edges and the shade stays constant across the whole surface. Before spraying, seal the area with a primer and degrease it, because fingerprints from handling show up in a satin finish as darker patches. Spraying equipment is in the airbrush category, and further shades from the same brand, thinners included, are in Gunze Mr.Color. The models these tones are aimed at are in the space, sci-fi and fantasy category.
