Hyperion Green Semi-Gloss

A semi-gloss green under the name Hyperion

A modeling paint of the Gunze Mr.Color brand from the XGC line, listed under the name Hyperion Green. It is a green shade in a semi-gloss finish, that is with a degree of sheen somewhere between matte and full gloss.

What the shade is suited to

The name of the shade refers to a particular subject, but the paint itself is not tied to it. A subdued green will serve on large areas of a hull as well as on small accessories, on military subjects as well as on a figure. Semi-gloss is meanwhile a practical degree: a decal does not settle into a silvery haze on it and the surface will take a wash into the pressings, so the model does not have to be given a separate clear coat before the next step.

How to work with the paint

• Shake the bottle thoroughly before use; the pigment sits at the bottom.
• The thinner and the thinning ratio for spraying and for a brush are stated by the manufacturer on the packaging; a thinner from another line can curdle the paint.
• Apply several thin coats instead of one thick one; a thin coat keeps the detail of the pressings.
• Wash and degrease the surface of the model before painting; paint does not hold on greasy plastic.
• Try the shade on an offcut; on a large area it reads differently from in the bottle.

Who it is for

For modelers who put a palette together after a particular line of shades, and for those who find a subdued green with a slight sheen useful to have in stock. The bottle is sold on its own; the thinner, a brush and a model are not included, unless stated otherwise.
