A gold metallic Vallejo Game Air shade for an airbrush. For armor, decorative hardware and insignia. It calls for thorough shaking and a quick rinse.
Responsibility details are not available.
Metallic shades differ from ordinary paints in carrying real metal flakes. It is precisely they that create the sheen, and precisely they that cause trouble when spraying. The gold tone from the Game Air line is adjusted so that the size of the particles does not clog the airbrush, yet it is handled differently from an opaque green or brown. It finds a use on plate armor, on the hardware of shields, on statues, insignia and on the decorative elements of machines.
This is not a bottle for a first purchase. It assumes an airbrush you can take apart and clean, because metal pigments settle faster than the rest and leave traces behind them on the needle. A wider nozzle, around 0.4 mm, can rather be recommended. Anyone painting a single figure who needs to gild a buckle and a hilt will get along far better with a brush and a thicker metallic shade; spraying pays off only on large metal areas or on a series of identical parts.
Before filling, the bottle is shaken longer than usual, ideally with a mixing ball inside. During the work the material settles in the cup as well, so it is stirred from time to time. Saturation is reached in two or three thin coats; a heavy coat will leave a blotchy surface. Once finished, an immediate rinse follows, or the metal particles will dry in the gaps of the mechanism. The resulting sheen is underlined by a dark glaze in the crevices, which deepens the gold optically and rids it of a toylike look.
