Meng flexible abrasive paper, 180 grit - refill pack

A refill pack of flexible abrasive paper from the fine range of modeling abrasives by Meng. It holds a single grit, namely 180. The paper has a pliable backing, so it follows the shape of the surface being sanded and its edges do not break away as they do with ordinary rigid abrasive paper. It is used to top up a set in which the individual grits are gradually used up. The dimensions of the sheets and their number in the pack are given on the packaging.

Use

• The first leveling of gaps and glued seams, where material has to come off fast
• Removing the remains of sprue gates and parting lines from cast parts
• Rough leveling of filled areas before moving on to finer grits
• Sanding shaped and curved surfaces where rigid paper does not sit
• Sanding can be done dry or with water, depending on the nature of the surface and material

Who it is for

For modelers who already use this brand's fine abrasive set and need to top up a grit they have used up, and for anyone who prefers a pliable backing to conventional paper. The 180 grit is among the coarser ones, so it serves the first stages of sanding. For a final surface under varnish you always have to follow on with progressively finer grits, otherwise the scratches will stay visible. The abrasive is universal and is used on plastic, resin and filler.

Sanding dry creates fine dust - work in a ventilated space and use a respirator, especially on resin parts. Sanding with water is gentler in this respect.
