HSM02 is a gold metal shade. The words Super Fine in the name refer to the fineness of the pigment: the smaller the metal particles, the more continuous the surface and the less the result resembles glitter. On a model this shows above all in scale, because a coarse metallic always looks implausibly generous on a small part.
Gold appears on models in small areas rather than over a whole machine: decorative strips, fittings, the insides of nozzles, pieces of equipment, accessories for figures or the decorative parts of robot kits. It also serves well wherever the metal is meant to be warmer than steel, that is, for brass and bronze imitations.
Metallic paints give away every irregularity, so smooth the surface first and even it out with a primer. Stir the paint thoroughly, the metal particles settle faster than ordinary pigment. Choose the thinner and the thinning ratio as the manufacturer's instructions on the packaging say. Lay down thin coats, and when working with a brush do not drag it repeatedly over a spot that has become tacky, otherwise the pigment is combed into streaks. A dry metal surface is more sensitive to rubbing and to adhesive tape; mask carefully, and try any protective clear coat out first, because it always changes the sheen of the metal a little.
The paint is supplied on its own. The thinner, the primer, the clear coat, the brushes and the kit are not part of it, unless stated otherwise.
