Replacement sponges for a wet palette, two pieces in the package. The sponge holds the reserve of water that it passes to the paint through the membrane paper, and it is the part of the whole assembly that wears out first.
Responsibility details are not available.
In a wet palette the main work is done by the soaked foam. It takes the water up, holds it spread over the whole area and gives it out upward evenly. If it dries out in one corner faster, the paint above it begins to stiffen sooner than in the rest, and that is the commonest reason why a palette stops working as it should.
The package contains a pair, so one part can be in use while the other waits clean and dry in the meantime. That is precisely the advantage during a longer break between projects: damp foam left closed in the warm begins after a time to smell, whereas a washed and dried-through round can be put back into play at any moment.
No figure for the service life is stated, and honestly said it cannot even be estimated, because the cleanliness of the water decides, and so does how often the foam is left to dry through. A practical guide is the smell and the crumbling of the edges. As long as a round holds its shape and smells neutral after washing, there is no reason to change it. Ordinary prevention is what helps most, besides: after a longer session wring the foam out and leave it lying loose, not pressed under a closed lid, where it has no way to breathe.
Outside a modeling workshop the same round will serve in an improvised palette for school art classes, in decorating gingerbread with food colors or as a reserve of moisture under germinating seeds. The material is ordinary open foam, nothing more, and the breadth of use matches that.
