About product

Vallejo Interior Grey Green 17 ml - Model Air

A Vallejo acrylic modeling paint from the Model Air range, supplied in a 17 ml bottle with a dropper. It is a water-thinnable acrylic (not an enamel and not a lacquer) with a saturated, evenly flat surface. Model Air is deliberately thinner than the thick Model Color, which is meant for the brush and has to be thinned for an airbrush - Model Air, by contrast, sprays practically straight from the bottle. It can be fine-tuned as needed with airbrush thinner or a drying retarder from the same manufacturer. The shade Interior Grey Green is a muted interior gray-green, that is, the typical color of the inside of aircraft - cockpits, floors, frames, bulkheads and instrument panels.

Use

  • Spraying interiors and cockpits with an airbrush - lay it on in several thin coats over a well dried primer.
  • Usable with a brush as well, though an airbrush is more suitable for larger smooth areas.
  • Shake the bottle thoroughly before use, as the pigment settles at the bottom.
  • An interior takes layering well: once the base is dry, a dark wash in the details and drybrushing on the edges work nicely.
  • Wash the tools and the airbrush with water or an acrylic cleaner right after work - dried acrylic is hard to remove.

What it is and what it is not

It is a covering flat acrylic paint, not a wash, not a varnish and not a tinting medium. The manufacturer lists it as a general interior gray-green and does not assign it to any particular air force in its own catalog. Because interior colors differ from country to country, follow the specification in the building instructions for the particular machine - otherwise you risk painting the cockpit in a shade that does not belong to that subject.

Who the paint is for

For modelers of aircraft and vehicles who work with an airbrush and want a convincingly painted cockpit with no mixing and thinning. It will also suit those who combine the Model Air range into their own palette of interior shades.

The paint is a water-thinnable acrylic. Work in a ventilated area, use a respirator while spraying and protect your eyes. Keep out of the reach of children.

FAQ

No. The Model Air range is formulated directly for the airbrush and sprays practically straight from the bottle. Use airbrush thinner or a retarder only as needed and according to how your particular gun behaves. The thick Model Color range, by contrast, does have to be thinned - that is the key difference between the two ranges.

It is a water-thinnable acrylic. Water or airbrush thinner from the same manufacturer works for thinning, and water or an acrylic cleaner for cleaning. Solvent thinners for enamels do not belong here.

The manufacturer lists the shade as a general interior gray-green and does not name a particular air force in its own catalog. Because the specified interior shades differ between countries, check the cockpit color for your subject in the building instructions.

Yes, but it is thinner than paints made for the brush, so more thin coats will be needed. An airbrush is more suitable for large areas, while a brush will do for details in the cockpit.
